Showcase: Rotex 1940Philipp Sander
Rotex 1940 is quite a young Rotex club, having only been around for three years, yet has already managed to obtain about 20 active members! Our district includes Berlin, the capital city of Germany, and many other cities in the area, including Rostock, Potsdam, and Cottbus. With all these big and wide-spread cities, we form the biggest district in Germany.
Our most important task is working with Outbounds and Inbounds. We support the Youth Exchange Officers at several orientations and some of us even attend the Europe and Paris trips. We also organize guided tours through the concentration camp, Sachsenhausen, and a farewell weekend in Warnemünde.
However, working with exchange students is not the only thing on our schedules – supporting Rotary clubs forms another big part as well! For example, we help out with organizing events, such as the children’s day at the Berlin Zoo and anniversary festivities.
The difference between us and other Rotex clubs is that we do not have any kind of hierarchy within the club and thus, no president. Sure, everyone has their duties, but to avoid the exclusion of members, every member has the same status and the same importance within the club which is very important to us and has worked out well so far!
