Showcase: Rotex 1800 e.V.Philipp Sander
Today we would like to introduce you to Rotex 1800 e.V. in Northern Germany.
With around 80 active members and foundation dating back to 1989, we are one of the biggest and oldest clubs in Europe. We organize about 6 weekends each year for Inbounds and Outbounds. One special weekend is our Outbound Orientation, where we prepare our Outbounds for their experience abroad in different workshops that deal with intercultural communication, stereotypes, life with host families, attending a new school, and many more challenges that may occur during exchange.
One of our biggest events each year is our three week-long Europe Tour with the Inbounds which is completely organized and carried out by 7 to 10 Rotexers. Our adventurous tour takes us through 9 countries and 14 cities.
We benefit from a unique relationship with Rotary International, as many different Rotary Clubs and Rotarians support us during our weekends and activities. We are fortunate enough to have developed Rotary’s trust through working in close cooperation with them, which has ultimately lead to five of our Rotexers attending and actively participating in the Rotary International Convention 2017 in Atlanta, Georgia.
Our biggest project was the 3. International Rotex Convention 2016 in Hannover that took place last summer. Together with our friends from Rotex 1890 e.V., we organized the conference that brought Rotexers from around the world closer together and paved the way for new development and directions for the future. One of our own Rotexers, Sophie Richter, was also elected to the Rotex International Board during this convention.
We are excited to see where the future is going to take us!
